A summary of existing state stocks written by the Treasurer of the Western Shore in June 1835 for the newly instituted Commissioner of Loans. The inside cover lists 13 separate issuances of stock between 1822 and 1834 along with their legislative mandates. The rest of the volume provides a breakdown of the owners associated with each group of stocks, listing the proprietors' name and city of residence, purchase date, the date from which the accrued interest, the date it was first redeemable, and the amount.

The Laws of 1834, chapter 279 authorized the governor (with consent of the Council) to appoint the president of a Baltimore bank as Commissioner of Loans. The Commissioner was responsible for overseeing the existing state stock as well as future stock issues.
